ABOUT ME

Ashton Miller (he/they) (Scenic Design) is a designer interested in creating sets for theater and film. They have previously designed for Heathers: The Musical and The Serpent Lady at North Central College. They completed their Bachelor’s Degree in Art for Theatrical Design and Technology at North Central College in 2025, where they focused on scenic design.

They were taught by and designed under Brian Redfern, who is the head of Theatrical Design and Technology at North Central College and an accomplished set designer. There they completed classes on scenic building, model making, digital and hand drafting, script analysis, and similar subjects. They are well versed in using Vectorworks to design and draft sets in both 2D and 3D. This includes creating 3D digital models, ground plans, elevations, paint elevations, renderings, and detail drawings. They also learned hand drafting, hand rendering, set painting, and photoshop.

Ashton’s work focuses on supplying the audience with concrete and emotional information through the set. They enjoy the challenge of combining these two types of narrative information into a cohesive design. Ashton weaves symbolism into their sets and it often steers their design process.
